Bargain Hunting for a Dress

Now that you have had your first wedding dress shopping experience, did you find "the one"?

I found my dream dress at Karen Willis Holmes on my first visit. I love her designs. Romantic, elegant and so flattering for the female body. There was just one problem...it was four times my budget =*(

If money is not an issue then Australia has some wonderful bridal designers to offer.  KWH, Collette Dinnigan, Lisa Gowing and Steven Khalil are my personal favourites but their demi-couture collections generally start from the $2,500 range.

If you have a tight budget like me, there are some avenues for finding a bargain:

  • shop at the bridal outlets in Wetherill Park - you can find dresses for around $500 but these are usually once-off pieces or with limited sizes;

  • browse online bridal stores like WeddingSprings.com, LightWeddingDresses.com or MillyBridal.com - online shopping can be risky because it is difficult to know how the dress will look on you unless you have the figure of a 6 feet tall model or you know exactly what you are after. This is a perfect way though to find a second/reception dress with prices starting at around $200; or

  • buy overseas - look out for my next post on the Jiangnan Wedding Street of Guangzhou, China.
